Like a delicate rose cradled in thorny cactus arms, the Basilica of the Shrine of St. Therese of Lisieux, (pronounced LE-sE-nasal-OO) is an architectural treasure nestled in the patchy westside. All pilgrims and posers should make the visit, (found near the urban Woodlawn Lake) even if you’re not catholic or an expert on saints. Behold the art and the ornamentation, its worth a gander. And like a jelly doughnut, the interior is full of mystery and deliciousness. I’ll blog the museum inside next, so check back soon.

Worker: How about some arched windows too, your highness?
Foreman: you know what Charlie, make me a tower that touches heaven, with bas-relief panels. Now shut your lip.

Fun fact: the mortar was made with holy water and sand from a nearby children’s sandbox.
