Behold, the Basilica in the Barrio

Like a delicate rose cradled in thorny cactus arms, the Basilica of the Shrine of St. Therese of Lisieux, (pronounced LE-sE-nasal-OO) is an architectural treasure nestled in the patchy westside. All pilgrims and posers should make the visit, (found near the urban Woodlawn Lake) even if you’re not catholic or an expert on saints. Behold the art and the ornamentation, its worth a gander. And like a jelly doughnut, the interior is full of mystery and deliciousness. I’ll blog the museum inside next, so check back soon.

Foreman: Hey Charlie, get to work on more classical details.

You might say “Holy Gotham City, this place is ancient!” But you would be wrong. It was constructed during the depression, when labor was cheap, and people had time to spare.
Fun fact: the mortar was made with holy water and sand from a nearby children’s sandbox.
If this old street lamp could talk, it would probably have a french accent. His name is Beaux.

I’m guessing this is St. Therese of Lisieux after she was turned to stone by some clever wizard’s spell.
